Dr. Ellie Jarnot was born in Baltimore, MD where she lived out the first half of her childhood. She and her family then moved to Boca Raton, FL, where she was raised with her two collies until leaving for the University of Florida. She arrived with full intentions of studying neurobiology to find the cure for Alzheimer’s disease and joined a research lab where she was tasked with caring for the animals involved. Around the same time her beloved first collie was diagnosed with cancer back home. She then realized her true calling in life was treating pets and supporting the human-animal bond. She spent eight years in Gainesville, FL earning her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at UF (Go Gators!).
Her professional interests include internal and preventive medicine, geriatric care, and physical rehabilitation. While in veterinary school, Dr. Ellie earned her Fear Free certification and is dedicated to reducing fear, anxiety, and stress in her canine and feline patients during their veterinary office visits. After vet school, she attended Canine Rehabilitation Institute to become a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist, which has been invaluable in helping the many pets she sees who are limited in mobility due to age or other disease. It gives Dr. Ellie great joy to perform thorough exams and provide client education throughout all stages of a pet’s life, but puppy and kitten visits and loving on grey muzzled patients are some of the sweetest moments. She is driven by building strong relationships and working together with clients to help heal their best friend.
Dr. Ellie is married to her high school sweetheart Mike and has enjoyed settling down in Melbourne. They spend most of their free time trying to entertain their energetic fur children- Chloe, a food loving and talkative Rough Collie who loves to snuggle, and Claire, a boisterous and people loving Newfoundland who doesn’t quite understand her size. Dr. Ellie enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, being involved with Elevation Church, and soaking in the Florida sunshin
